After charming American and British audiences, the country’s pride Charice once again has made the country proud as she dazzled the crowd at the birthday concert of Italian operatic pop tenor Andrea Bocelli last Sunday, July 20 in Italy.
Charice performed with other international performers at the Theater of Silence of Lajatico, Italy dubbed as “The Cinema Tribute.”
Charice shared her singing prowess to Bocelli’s countrymen in an open air theater in Tuscany where Bocelli hails. The Italian tenor is set to turn 50 as he celebrates his birthday this 22nd of September.
Aside from completing the special affair, Charice again impressed the pop tenor as they performed a duet. The concert featured songs from some of the world’s unforgettable musical films. Performers for the said concert were Nicolla Piovani, Roberto Bolle and Noa.
In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com days before she went to Italy, Charice said that she was going to be part of the big show that would definitely make a mark internationally on the talent of Filipinos.
“Of course, every time i go to other countries, what im doing is for the Philippines to give them glory and make them proud on what im doing next,” Charice said.
Charice went to Italy July 16, days before Boccelli’s special birthday concert. The young diva met Bocelli when she performed for David Foster’s discoveries for a benefit concert at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas Friday, May 23rd.
In a previous interview, Bocelli invited Charice to be his special guest for his birthday concert.
Charice boosted her international career when she appeared in the Paul O’Grady Show in London last April 8 and on the Ellen DeGeneres show in December of 2007.
Last April 11, abs-cbnNEWS.com broke the story that she just finished taping a special episode for Oprah. Her special appearance at Oprah was aired May 12th.

Speaking of Oprah, almost everybody knows that Charice snatched the limelight when she guested on Oprah Winfrey show. To cater to the request of viewing public, ABS-CBN’s Studio 23 will premiere the much-awaited appearance and performance of our very own Charice in the US talk show “Oprah” this Wednesday, July 23 at 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Before appearing in “Oprah,” Charice already gave stunning performances in Ellen Degeneres’ “Ellen,” UK’s “Paul O’ Grady Show” and Korea’s “Star King” where she was first noticed by the world after a fan uploaded footages via YouTube and gained over 13 million hits.
Charice who started singing at the young age of 4 said she really loves American music, especially Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Celine Dion hits.
